CLIFFORD R. COHEN Mr. Cohen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982, graduating summa cum laude. He earned his juris doctor degree from Hastings College of Law in 1985 and was elected to membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Mr. Cohen is one of three managing directors of the firm. Mr. Cohen is a member of the Real Estate Section of the State Bar of California and has a broad-based transactional practice. He counsels clients on a variety of real estate, partnership and corporate matters, including real estate acquisitions and sales, leasing, land use, title issues, common interest development matters, redevelopment projects, construction-related contracts, and foreclosures. In particular, Mr. Cohen acts as counsel to governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, lenders, developers and contractors in connection with multiuse commercial and industrial sales, leasing, and development transactions. Among recent projects, Mr. Cohen has represented a lender in connection with renegotiation of $88 million of existing financing and additional construction loan funding for a landmark Los Angeles hotel; represented a governmental agency in a joint venture for the development of a large shopping center; and, as an adjunct to his ongoing representation of developers and contractors as corporate counsel, consulted with the Pasadena Chapter of the American Institute of Architects on its ten-year rewrite recommendations for the AIA standard form owner-contractor agreements.
