KPC LEGAL AUDIT SERVICES INC.

ANDRÉ E. JARDINI

André E. Jardini is the President of KPC Legal Audit Services, Inc.  He has over 30 years experience as a lawyer and has been actively involved in auditing legal billings and related litigation since 1985.

Mr. Jardini is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Du Lac and Hastings College of Law.  He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1976 and is also admitted to the Central, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of the United States District Court, and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert Firth of the United States District Court, Central District of California, from 1977 through 1978.  Mr. Jardini has been employed by Knapp, Petersen & Clarke since its inception in 1981.  He is a director of the firm and also serves as a member of the firm’s management committee.

Mr. Jardini is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  He has conducted trials to jury verdict in more than 50 cases, most with exposure in the six-to-seven figure range.  He has also been involved in environmental litigation, insurance coverage litigation, federal and multidistrict litigation, products litigation, toxic tort litigation, intellectual property litigation, and insurance bad faith litigation.  Such litigation background has been a significant benefit in Knapp, Petersen & Clarke’s auditing work, has lent credibility to our opinions with outside counsel, and has served to facilitate dealings with them.

Mr. Jardini’s practice areas are wide ranging and include intellectual property, legal malpractice, business litigation, and employment law, including several wage and hour class-action lawsuits.  His audit experience includes testifying as an expert witness in arbitration proceedings concerning the billings of major law firms in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.  The matters included multidistrict litigation, environmental litigation, as well as patent and trademark infringement.

He has tried and arbitrated numerous cases in which the predominant issue involved the reasonableness of attorneys’ fees and costs.  He has conducted numerous audits involving, cumulatively, more than several hundred million dollars in legal billings.  He has frequently served as a consultant and expert witness on the reasonableness of attorney fees.
